You might not think that your dog would be a victim of allergies. Sure, it’s common for us human folk to have allergies to any number of things – foods, pollens, latex, and even dogs. You name it, there’s an allergy for it.
But we don’t often think of our canine friends when we think about allergies. You should, however, because dogs can get allergies just like their human friends. They aren’t as vocal about it as we can be, however, so educating ourselves is important. Your dog’s allergies might manifest themselves in a number of ways. He or she might bite, pick at what you think are fleas, or have diarrhoea. There are a number of possible allergen types. We’ll discuss skin and food allergies in their own chapters, but here’s a sam-pling of the types of allergies your dog might suffer.
Mold If you live in a moist climate (which can be hot and humid or rainy and wet), you likely have mold in your home. Dogs can be allergic to the mold, which might cause itching.
Other animals As much as we can have allergies to cats and dogs, they too can have allergies to other animals. Your dog might have an allergy to your pet cat, or even another dog. Again, later we’ll discuss what to look for, but this is a possibility a lot of dog owners discount. Don’t discount the possibility of this because it can be very real.

What I liked most about this book is the simple and direct text: easy to understand for all readers, regardless of their level experience in undertsanding in Good dog science of dealing with allergies. For those of us that are a bit more experienced, we are rewarded with specific instances of the kinds of things to looks for and examples of cures to try. I believe this publication is a "must have" on the list of any responsible dog owner (and particularly those who work with dogs for living, particularly since there is such a lack of cogent information about our intended target audience and their companions.
Chihuahua investment for a St Bernard return.
